St. Andrews University golfer Sadiyya Gillespie bested 49 other competitors to win the Tennessee Wesleyan Invitational (AAC Fall Championship) last Tuesday.

Her 79 in round one and 81 in round two was good enough to tie for first at 160 with Audrey Nelson of Bryan College. Nelson is the Bryan College Lions’ number one-ranked player.

Gillespie and Nelson would go head-to-head in a one-hole playoff to determine the winner, and Gillespie came out on top as she made par on the playoff hole to defeat Nelson.

The Knights ended up finishing sixth place in a nine team field with a 713 combined stroke tally. Trevecca Nazarene University won the invitational with a score of 677 while Union College placed second.

Also placing for the Knights was sophomore Laura Kinsman, who shot an 85 today on her way to a fourth place overall finish with a score of 162 to gain All-Tournament honors.

Other notables include freshman Sheridan Dillon-Robinson, who shot a 102 Tuesday for a two-day score of 194 to finish 37th overall and third on St. Andrews. Christina Agosto finished in a tie for 40th after firing a 101 for a total score of 201, and Dara Legard improved by 10 strokes over her Monday score to shoot a 98, good for 42nd in the 49 player event.

The Lady Knights are next on the course October 14 as they take part in the Sandhills Invitational (hosted by Sandhills C.C.) at Whispering Pines Country Club in Whispering Pines, NC.
