There is still no resolution to the case involving East Laurinburg Commissioner Marshall Stevens, Sr. who is accused of making threats.

The court decided Wednesday to continue the hearing until next month.

But Stevens did come away from the court with something — a new warrant charging him with threatening an additional person.

"I came into court and they said they had another warrant on me," said Stevens East Laurinburg's mayor pro tem.

The warrant accuses Stevens of communicating threats, this time for an exchange that allegedly occurred at the Jan. 6 town meeting.

East Laurinburg resident Rowe Warren, todl authorites that Stevens threatened him following a heated public hearing.

Stevens denies any such threat.

Stevens was in court Wednesday to respond to charges that he threatened Agnes and Edwin Sturdivant at their East Laurinburg residence on Dec. 19.

According to a December sheriff's report, Stevens is charged with one count of communicating threats and one count of second-degree trespassing. His son, 44-year-old Marshall Ralph Stevens Jr., is charged with two counts of communicating threats and one count of second-degree trespassing.

Agnes Sturdivant has alleged that the younger Stevens allegedly made several threats, including that he would run them out of town, burn their house down and kill them.

Sturdicant also said the elder Stevens came on her property shortly thereafter and threatened to beat up both her and her husband.

Stevens said the trial was continued for a third time because of a judge that could not sit on the case.

This was the third continuance. The first two continuances were because Stevens personally knew the judges and the third was because the judge was an elected official in the county and they felt it could be a conflict of interest.

Stevens said he hopes to get a judge from outside the county to guarantee the fairness of the hearing.

The hearing is scheduled for April 27.
