Caleb Sutton transferred from Coastal Carolina to UNC-Pembroke, and the 6-foot-3, 250-pound freshman infielder is off to a good start, hitting .273 (9-for-33) with one homer, four doubles, five runs scored, nine RBIs, a .485 slugging percentage, three walks and a .324 on-base percentage. Sutton has started seven times and appeared in 12 games for the 15-4 Braves.
Edward Pegues, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound sophomore at North Carolina Central University, has played in one of the Eagles' (0-4) first four games, and is 1-for-3 on the season.
Matt Quick, a freshman with the Methodist junior-varsity baseball team, went 3-for-4 in his first game of the season against the Wingate JV team on Thursday.
