Michael Gilliland's comment about me in the Feb. 27 issue of this paper, is entitled to his opinion no matter how baseless and irresponsible it is. Until Michael Gilliland steps into my shoes to coach girls ages 9 to 12, he has no idea what it takes. My decision not to allow my team to play defense the last five seconds of the game was done in the best interest of my team. The officiating was suspect to say the least and as the coach, it is my job to protect my players from any harm. As to teaching the girls the basics of the game, they have been taught, but more importantly, I have taught them that this is only a game. The rules in this league are so restrictive that they take away from the fun of the game. Michael Gilliland, step away from your comfort zone and come get in the foxhole with coaches and then maybe you will have some credibility.
