Mackinley “Mack” Waters, 13, of the Spivey’s Corner Community of Sampson County died on Friday evening from injuries sustained in an accident.

Mack was a student at Midway Middle School, where he was a straight-A student, and played wide receiver on the football team. He was a member of Mt. Elam Baptist Youth Group and First Baptist Church of Dunn Youth Group, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a devoted big brother, and was loved and adored by all.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Dunn with the Rev. Randy Bishop, Dr. Len Keever and the Rev. Randy Moore officiating. Burial will be private.

Surviving are his parents Jeremy and Christie Shepherd Waters, brothers Ben Waters and Latham Waters, sister Eliza Waters, paternal grandparents the Rev. Lavelle and Sharon Waters of Roanoke Rapids, and maternal grandparents Peggy Moore Edwards of Greenville and Coy Shepherd and wife Jeannie of Goldsboro. The family received friends from 10-11:00 a.m. on Monday at First Baptist Church of Dunn.
