Investigators seized about $1,500 in firearms and dog fighting equipment on Tuesday after responding to an animal cruelty complaint, according to a Robeson County Sheriff's report
The report said lawmen searched a home at 3870 Missouri Road in Maxton and found the items after someone complained about several dogs being immersed in water last week.
Authorities found three shotguns, a dog treadmill, dog medication and biting sticks among other items, according to the report.
Man charged with stabbing girlfriend
A 39-year old Laurinburg man is in custody after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend, according to a police report.
The report said Prinnis Ervin Dixon II was arrested Thursday night and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
Police responded to "a report of a woman falling on a knife" at Kinston Street in Laurinburg where they discovered Cynthia Covington, 48, had a knife wound to her leg.
Covington told officers that she and Dixon had an argument that led to Dixon stabbing her.
He is being held without bond at Scotland County jail with a court date of April 14.
Laurinburg man charged with skipping court
Deputies arrested a Laurinburg man for missing his court dates, according to a sheriff's report.
Patrick Timothy Ward, 44, of Leisure Road, is charged with three counts of failing to appear in court, the report said.
Ward was placed in Scotland County jail under a $10,000 secured bond, according to the report.
Fire investigation
The Sheriff's department is investigating a suspicious fire on Buyfield Road in Laurel Hill, according to an incident report.
The report said that a 36-year old woman's couch was set on fire.
The couch was on her front porch.
