A Laurinburg man was shot at and robbed of his vehicle on Sunday, according to a sheriff’s report.
Ricky Eugene Nott, 45, told deputies that he had picked up four men who asked for a ride home at about 7:30 p.m. on Modest Road in Maxton when one of the men said he had a gun.
The report said that Nott jumped from the vehicle and fell to the ground. He said he heard gunshots and was assaulted.
Nott said he passed out and woke up at about 6:40 a.m. His face had been grazed by a bullet.
The 2004 Toyota Camry was located at the intersection of N.C. 71 North and Oxendine School Road, according to the report.
Raeford man arrested for drugs
Deputies arrested a perennial felon from Raeford for cocaine, according to a sheriff's report.
Phillip Sheridan Stewart, 25, is charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, the report said.
He is in Scotland County jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
Stewart was just released in November after serving a two year stint in Craven Correction Institution, according to state records.
His was first convicted when he was 17 for larceny and has since been found guilty of five counts of larceny, two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of resisting arrest, armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon.
He has been sentenced on at least five different occasions.
Woman issued a citation for shoplifting
A Laurinburg woman was issued a citation by Rockingham police for shoplifting, according to a police report.
The report said 26-year old DeJarnette Elaine Hailey was caught shoplifting from a store at Falling Creek PIaza Shopping Center, Rockingham.
Hailey allegedly tied to steal $78.65 worth of merchandise, the report said.
