A Laurinburg couple was arrested Monday after a domestic dispute left Charles Edward Steele with a knife wound to the neck.
Officers of the Laurinburg Police Department responded to Apartment 6D at 900 Charlotte St. around 7 p.m. on Monday, the residence of 22-year-old Steele and his girlfriend Tiffany Hubbard, 22.
Hubbard was not in the apartment when officers arrived, but Steele claimed that she had stabbed him in the neck with a knife. He was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital by EMS.
Police say they later leraned that Hubbard had stabbed Steele after he threatened her.
“During the investigation it was found that Mr. Steele pointed a gun at Ms. Hubbard, threatening to kill her,” said Laurinburg Police Captain Kim Monroe.
Hubbard was arrested, charged with assault with a deadly weapon, and released under a written promise to appear in court on Thursday.
Steele was charged with felony assault by pointing a gun, assault on a female, and communicating threats, and placed in the Scotland County Detention Center under no bond.
