McCoy described the armed robbers as being two black males, both around 5'10 and of medium build. One was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans while the other was wearing a gray hoodie with navy lettering with matching sweat pants. Lt. Chris Young said the police have some other information on this robbery, including possible identities of the robbers, but would not elaborate further.
While officers were out looking for a vehicle police believed to be linked to the robbery, another call came in. A second armed robbery was reported around 10 p.m., according to officials. Police said the case was still sensitive and were unable to release any additional information on Thursday.
The third robbery was reported just before 11 p.m., according to a report. Police responded to a fight call at Pine Acres Lodge on the 401 Bypass, according to the report. The report said that when officers arrived, they found 24-year old Luke Allen Hnatkovich, of Oleandor Trail in Little River, S.C., lying on the floor. Hnatkovich told officers that he was hanging out with three people when he and another individual got into a fight, according to the report. He said the individual knocked him to the floor and then took $1,500 out of his pocket and his car keys.
Police recovered the vehicle, a black 2004 Jeep Wrangler, Thursday morning. This call, unlike the first two, netted an arrest the same night. Ironically, it was the victim who was taken to jail. While an officer was talking to Hnatkovich, he noticed a bag of white powder on the floor that appeared to be cocaine, the report said. Hnatkovich was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance and was placed in Scotland County jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
The report did not have a description of the alleged robber. Young said police have not ruled out that the armed robberies were linked. He also said that the third robbery seemed to be a separate incident entirely.
