There are many ways to volunteer with Hospice of Scotland County, such as
visiting with patients, working at one of their annual fund raising events or
helping out in the office.
The organization’s next volunteer training session is scheduled for Aug. 23-25 and
anyone with an interest in volunteering with Hospice should sign up, says
Denise Riggins, director of volunteer services at Hospice of Scotland
County.
“We are always looking for members of the community who are able to donate
some of their time,” Riggins said. “It takes a committed group of
volunteers with a wide range of talents to keep our organization running
smoothly. We encourage anyone who is interested in giving back to the
community to sign up for our volunteer training course.”
Training will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m., Aug. 23 and
Aug. 24, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25.
Participants are encouraged to attend all three sessions, which will be held at Hospice
of Scotland County’s office located at 610 Lauchwood Drive, Laurinburg.
The program will answer prospective volunteers’ questions and help them identify areas
within the organization where they can contribute, Riggins said.
“Some people are interested in serving as patient care volunteers, while
others are more comfortable answering the phones, helping with office work
or organizing a fundraising project.”
Space is limited, and participants must register beforehand. To register
for the volunteer training or to ask questions, contact Riggins at Hospice of
Scotland County at 276-7176, or e-mail her at driggins@scothosp.org.
