World-renowned pianist Mac Frampton will perform in the area on April 30.

As part of the Cole Community Series, the show “An American Portrait” features Frampton on piano and vocalists Sam Hagan and Dawn Marie.

The concert which begins at 7:30 p.m. celebrates two centuries of American through the songs that united and inspired its people.

The trio, backed by a live rhythm section of percussion and bass, performs songs such as “America the Beautiful,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “God Bless America,” and “God Bless the USA.” The show also includes performances of such favorites as “New York, New York,” “Swanee,” “The Yellow Rose of Texas,” and “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.”

Pianist, conductor and arranger Frampton started his career in The Seventies as a solo pianist and then added a rhythm section of bass and percussion, a combination that earned Frampton hundreds of college concerts. Since that time, he has produced over 25 recordings. His latest are Concert Grand! featuring a full orchestra and An American Portrait, a solo album of patriotic music in tribute to the heroes of 9/11, which was the inspiration for this concert.

Tenor Sam Hagan studied opera with various Metropolitan Opera soloists while at the same time “fronting” a rock band. Hagan is equally at home with operatic roles and today’s pop standards. Mezzo-Soprano Dawn Marie has been extensively showcased on stage and at various special events in the Caribbean, Europe, and South America. A resident of Atlanta, she has performed several solo engagements with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Bach Choir, and at Georgia State University.
