The Laurinburg Police Department took into custody three juveniles for breaking and entering last week.
Juvenile Detective Marc Godwin said the trio of 15-year olds broke into a house on Dunbar Drive in Laurinburg by throwing a flowerpot through a garage window.
Godwin said the resident returned home while the minors were inside the residence and the young men fled.
Police think the juveniles went to Pinewood Park, where one set a wood fire to distract the police pursuit.
Police say they caught up with the juveniles on East Covington Street after a resident called police about suspicious people in the neighborhood.
The juveniles were each charged with two counts of breaking and entering One teenager is also being charged with arson.
The three were taken to Richmond Detention Center pending conditions for release from a district court judge, according to police.
Godwin said two of the 15-year olds were city residents while the third lived in Robeson County.
Inmate charged with smuggling drugs
Scotland County jail inmate was caught with cocaine, according to a sheriff's report.
The report said 19-year old Khmaine Anthony McLean, of South Caledonia Road in Laurinburg, was found to be in possession of 10 grams of cocaine and two grams of marijuana on Sunday.
McLean is charged with possession in a confinement facility, possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine and felony possession of cocaine, according to the report.
The report did not specify how the cocaine got into the facility.
McLean is in Scotland County jail under a $70,000 secured bond, according to the report.
State records indicate McLean was previously convicted of possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and maintaining a drug dwelling and sentenced to community service
