Feb. 13

Anointed House of God will present guest speaker Bishop Christopher Taylor from Victory Temple in Latta, S.C. to speak at 7:30 p.m.

Feb. 14

Progressive Baptist Church on Stewartsville Road will have a "Big Lunch" from 12 to 1:30 p.m. followed by a Valentine's program at 2 p.m. There will lots of gospel music. Everyone is invited.

Laurel Hill First Baptist Church on McFarland Road, Laurel Hill, will hold a Women on the Move for Christ prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. The guest speaker will be Min. Mia Berry of Hope Christian Church in Laurinburg. The public is invited.



Glorious Pentecostal Holiness Church will host the St. Paul Association Singing Union at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will Prophet Ann Davis of Greater Rock Holiness Church in McColl, S.C. Various choirs will appear. The public is invited.

Feb. 15

Franklin Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church will present their steward board annual program at 4 p.m. The guest preacher will be the Rev. James Whitted and male choir and congregation from Sandy Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Lumber Bridge.

Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church in Wagram will celebrate Black History Month by recognizing the achievements of Nazareth pioneers within their church family at 11 a.m.

Spring Hill Baptist Church will observe Black History Month at 3 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Ruby Lennon of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Laurinburg with the Westminster choir and congregation. The public in invited.

Solid Rock Baptist Church will host a gospel extravaganza sponsored by the Mitchel and Jackson families in memory of Mrs. Sarah L. Jackson at 4 p.m. The New Beginning Gospel Choir of Raleigh, the P.S.D. Singers and many more will perform. All are invited.

Greaterglory Kingdom Outreach Ministries' youth will speak on the "Fruits of the Spirit" at 3 p.m.

Fairley's Chapel Baptist Church will hold a sweetheart pageant program at 4 p.m. The public is invited.

Hunter's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church will celebrate Black History Month at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dorothy Anderson, pastor of Fletcher Grove Baptist Church. Everyone is invited to attend. Call 276-8102 for more information.

Feb. 17

The Phat Explosion Crusade will be at Radical Praiz, T.H.C.A.F., 120 McArthur St. in Hamlet Feb. 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Speakers include Apostle Willie Eddy, Apostle Emmanuel Cooper and Navi (Prophet) Bryan Wilson. Call 843-862-1657 for more information.



Unionville Missionary Baptist Church on Blakely Road, Laurinburg, will hold their annual Black History program at 3 p.m. Guest speaker and groups include the Rev. Margie Peguese, speaker, the Union Grove Male Choir, the Faith Anointed Temple Male Choir, Brother Tyris Jones, and the Unionville Mime Team.

Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church,at12201 Pankey Town Road, will be celebrating Heritage-Founder’s Day, at 11 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear their African Garb or Old Fashioned “Sunday-go-to-meeting clothes.” The Youth Choir will be rendering the music and Pastor Rev. S.L. Lyons will be delivering the morning message. Everyone is invited to attend.

New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church at 11003 Academy Road Laurinburg, presents a gospel singing with the RiverTown Boys from Conway, S.C. at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Feb. 20

Solid Rock Ministries, Inc. presents their third annual men's conference with the theme "Just, Men Bouncing Back" to be held at the St. Joseph Miracle Revival Center, 4657 Daniel McLeod Road, Red Springs. The program runs from Feb. 20 through Feb. 22 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday and at 9 a.m. Saturday (men and boys only), and at 10 a.m. Sunday. For more information call 843-1544.

Feb. 21

Greaterglory Kingdom Outreach Ministries will have a women's mentoring meeting at 10 a.m. Evangelist Carrol Warren of High Point will speak on the topic of "Why the Church Needs to Remain Attractive". Breakfast will be served.

Feb. 22

Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church in Wagram will celebrate Black History Month by acknowledging the Nazareth Rising Pioneers as they celebrate with youth. Former Chief Robert Malloy will bring the 11 a.m. message. Members and guests are asked to wear African Attire or old fashioned clothes. An old-fashioned dinner will be served immediately after morning service. At 3 p.m. the congregation will celebrate their heritage with the Imani Gospel Choir of Scotland High School, with Laurel Hill First Baptist Church and their play "Look Where He Brought Us From", and with Scotland County's own famous storyteller Tyris Jones.

Bright Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church Black History Celebration will be Sunday, February 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. The theme is “How We Got Over”. Entertainment will be provided by storytellers and the Scotland High School Gospel Choir. The public is invited to attend.

Faith Presbyterian Church at 2220 Elm Ave., Laurinburg, will hold an open mic singing event from 7 to 8 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Everyone is invited. For more information call 276-9151.

Feb. 24

St. David's Episcopal Church will have its annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Hot pancakes, steamed apples and sausage will be served. Plates are $5.

March 6

Gibson Pentecostal Holiness Church will have their annual barbecue and chicken plate sale from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Plates are $6, eat in or carry out. Deliveries are available for five plates or more. The menu will be pork barbecue, fried chicken, cloe slaw, baked beans, string beans, potato salad, hush puppies, rolls and tea.

Franklin Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church will present its Ladies in Red program on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at 4 p.m. Journals of testimonies from church members will be read during the program.

March 6

The Rockingham District of the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church will sponsor a prayer conference March 6-7. The theme is: "A Heart of Worship, A Willing Spirit." The event will be held March 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Laurinburg. The service is free and open to the public. On March 7, the event will be held from 9 a.m., until 4 p.m. at First Rockingham United Methodist Church. Pre-registration is required for Saturday's events. Space is limited.
