Victor Maness

Mr. Victor Maness of Wagram was born Jan. 27, 1950 and departed this life Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at 12 noon at the Aberdeen First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Collins Chapel United Methodist Church in Lumber Bridge.

Mr. Maness was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Locklear; father, Edmond Maness; brothers Mr. Joe Edward Maness and Mr. Willie Maness; a sister, Mrs. Peggy Oxendine.

Mr. Maness leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife Mary Smith Maness; one sister, Mrs. Iola Lee Maness Locklear (husband Ricky Locklear); two daughters, Mrs. Vickie Locklear of Maxton and Mrs. Billie Hopper of Belton, Texas; two stepdaughters, Ms. Wanda Mount of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Mrs. Mary Chavis of The Republic of Korea; two stepsons, Mr. John Smith of Red Springs and Mr. Adam Locklear of Maxton; beloved grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs; and Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Aberdeen First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Catherine Norton Quick

Catherine Norton Quick, 88, of Bennettsville, S.C., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Henry Lee and Mattie Smith Norton and the wife of the late James Troy Quick. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, a Sunday School teacher, and served on many church committees. Mrs. Quick was a member of the Pilot Club, the Lions Club, and the Bennettsville Chapter of the Woodmen of the World. She was a homemaker, devoted to her family, her church and exemplified her faith in her every day life.

Surviving are her children, Sammy Quick and his wife, Penny of Cheraw, S.C., Mitchell Quick and his wife, Leslie of Chester, Va., David Quick and his wife, Linda of Hamlet, Dr. Stephen Quick and his wife, Jane of Florence, S.C., Annette McCallum and her husband, Harry of Laurinburg, and Cathy Belcher and her husband, Chuck of Bennettsville; sisters, Margaret N. Mathis of Cheraw, Bernice N. Boyle of Hamlet, and Edna Spivey of Ellerbe; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a special daughter-in-law, Carole Ann Richardson of Columbia, S.C.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at 4 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, in care of Joan Brock, 1701 Highway 9 West, Bennettsville, S.C. 29512.

Catherine Brinkley, 90, of 301 Marcellus St., Laurinburg, died Feb. 9, 2009 at Century Care Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel. Apostle Lawrence Jackson, III will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
