Brenda Gilbert of Laurinburg has been named to NC Cooperative Extension State Advisory Council.
Gilbert's nomination for a three-year term recently was approved by the state Extension Council.
She joins a 33 member group of supporters across North Carolina who are advisors for the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, based at North Carolina State University. The State Advisory Council advocates for the citizens of North Carolina with government and community leaders, promotes excellence by sharing the impact of North Carolina Cooperative Extension programs, ensures that Cooperative Extension Programming meets local needs and serves as a liaison between local Extension and state administrators.
Gilbert, who is a retired Community Relations Coordinator with Scotland County Schools, has been involved with Southeastern Storytelling Arts Center, Scotland County Partnership for Children, Laurinburg/Scotland County Area Chamber of Commerce, Scotland County United Way, and Scotland County 4-H.
