Carolina Eye Associates surgeons will be the first in the United States to receive new technology from Europe that may lead to advances in corneal transplant technique and improved outcomes, the practice has announced.
Drs. Neil Griffin and Colleen Grace say they have acquired a state-of-the-art laser that aids in LASIK surgery and may also be useful in corneal transplant procedures. Carolina Eye is one of the largest eye care providers in the Southeast, with offices in Laurinburg ,Asheboro, Albemarle, Dunn, Fayetteville, Pinehurst/Southern Pines, Sanford, and Cheraw, SC.
The Ziemer FEMTO LDV Femtosecond Laser may lead to improved quality of vision while reducing recovery time with the use of a certain therapeutic head which attaches to the laser, they said.
The new laser also offers LASIK patients improved quality of vision and a faster recovery, according to the statement from the medical office.
"The new laser adds an even higher level of accuracy and safety to the procedure using its ultra-fast, tightly focused, low-energy laser beam," the statement said. "The tremendous level of control and customization will allow Carolina Eye Associates surgeons to provide a faster, more comfortable recovery and the best possible quality of vision for our patients"
