A reunion of the Scotland High School Class of 1994 is in the process of being organized for the weekend of Oct. 16-18. The next meeting will be held Feb. 21 at the Scotland County Memorial Library at 4 p.m.

"It has been 15 years since graduation," reunion chairperson Denise Campbell said. "A group of us decided that it was time for us to see each other again."

The event will be the first reunion of the 1994 class.

Campbell and 10 other alumni have held one meeting so far to begin preparations for the reunion, scheduled to take place during the high school's homecoming weekend in October. So far they have located between 50 and 60 people and have a Facebook page set up for alumni.

Campbell initially attempted to locate fellow graduates through the county board of education, only to learn that the information was confidential.

"We decided to make copies of the 1994 school yearbook, and to then ask each person at our next meeting to try to locate 10 people from the graduating class," Campbell said.

Some 300 students graduated from Scotland High School in 1994.

Scotch Meadows Country Club is planned as a meeting place for some of the activities during the reunion weekend.

"We hope that if we can find enough people, we can keep the costs at around $20 per person," Campbell said.

In addition to activities at Scotch Meadows, tentative plans for the reunion include a casual Friday evening meeting at Champs or McDuff's restaurants and a Sunday family picnic at Scotland Park.
