St. Andrews University Women’s Soccer Head Coach Rohan Naraine resigned Monday afternoon, school officials announced.

Naraine accepted a position at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in Pine Bluff, AR, where he will serve as head women’s soccer coach.

The search for a women’s soccer head coach will begin immediately.

“I want to thank St. Andrews University for the opportunity they gave me to lead the women’s soccer program,” Naraine said. “SAU has been like a family to me over the past two years and I will miss St. Andrews greatly. I also want to thank my players for their hard work over the past two seasons. They were a great group of young ladies to coach, both on and off the field. I wish them all the best for the future.”

Naraine spent two seasons at St. Andrews, where he served as head coach for both seasons.

“Rohan worked hard for St. Andrews Women’s Soccer during his time at the university,” said St. Andrews University Director of Athletics Glenn Batten. “He brought many excellent student-athletes to our campus and his encouraging, uplifting attitude on the field and in the office will be missed. We would like to wish Rohan the best as he takes the next step in his coaching career at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.”

The UAPB Golden Lions finished the 2011 season as the SWAC Tournament Champions and earned a spot in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Until a coach is appointed, the St. Andrews athletic staff will work with the women’s soccer team during their non-championship season as they condition and work to prepare for the fall of 2012.
