Ephesians 5:21 – “Submitting to one another in the fear of God.”
By Dr. Thomas Marshall
I spoke last week about being married for 41 years. Often in marriage we find that we are in a battle of wills between each other. It is inevitable. When two different people come together to live as one, there is always going to be differences – in fact, if there weren’t - one of the two wouldn’t be necessary. The question is how do we handle this realm of conflict? Five major ways used are competition, compromise, isolation, denial, and separation. Sadly, they are all doomed to failure. The only real solution is when the couple yields their independent wills to God, and then they seek to do His will. The truth behind marriage is not 50-50, but 100-100. We learn to submit to God’s Will and He gives us a New Hope for Today.
