Maxton man stabbed

Lawmen are investigating last week's stabbing of a 62-year-old Maxton man.

Maxton police contacted the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot. As deputies approached the vehicle they noticed Robert Locklear of Carter Road inside, according to a sheriff’s report.

The report said Locklear made eye contact with the deputy but did not respond to questions. The deputy then noticed a substantial amount of blood coming from Locklear’s chest area, the report said.

Locklear was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Two arrested for drugs

Two Laurinburg men were arrested at their home on East Vance Street on marijuana charges on Thursday, according to Laurinburg police.

Travis Terell Campbell, 24, was charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana within 1,000 feet of a day care. Campbell was placed in scotland County jail under a $100,000 secured bond.

Police served a search warrant on the residence and found marijuana in Campbell's room, along with a digital scale and plastic baggies, according to the report.

The report says that the police arrested Adam Thomas, 21, while serving the warrant and he is charged with possession of less and a half an ounce of marijuana.

He was released on a written promise to appear for court.

Power tools snagged in B&E

A storage building on Aberdeen Road in Laurinburg was broken into last week.

According to a sheriff's report, the owner noticed that the lock had been cut and a number of power tools had been stolen.

The report listed a table saw valued at $400, a sawzaw valued at $150, a chainsaw valued at $325, two framing guns valued at $300, two roofing nail guns valued at $350, a finish staple gun valued at $160, four Bran nail guns valued at $160, a finish nail gun valued at $325 and an 18-volt cordless drill.

The padlock that was cut was valued at $15.

Car stolen from Maxton woman

Francis Smith, 50, of Michael Drive in Maxton, reported last week that her vehicle was missing.

A sheriff’s report said that Smith was leaving for work at about 5:48 a.m. when she noticed her 2002 Pontiac Gran Prix missing.

The vehicle was valued at about $11,000.
