The Scots also got a welcome return in the frontcourt, as senior Jasmin Amos returned from a knee injury that has kept her out all season. Amos scored four points, but gave the Lady Scots much more than that in a 59-37 win.
Amos, a six-foot post player who missed all of last softball season, all of the 2008 volleyball season and all of basketball season up until Friday while recovering from a major knee injury, gives the Scots even more depth in their big and athletic frontcourt.
"She really looked good tonight," said SHS head coach David Johnson. "She provided a big lift for us.
"The girls were happy to see her, and she brought an energy to the team, a little energy boost that can really help us as we enter the second half of our conference schedule."
The Scots finish the first half of their schedule 12-3 overall and 5-2 in the Mid-Southeastern 4-A Conference. Leading the way through the first 15 games has been starting guards Megan Brigman and Shayla McEachern.
McEachern approached a quadruple-double with 11 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and seven steals against the Bucs. Brigman was the team's leading scorer once again, dropping a game-high 20 points to go with four steals, six assists and five boards.
Jessi Newton had six points, four rebounds and two steals for the Scots, and Diasia McKoy, Alicia Pipkin and Brittany Dockery had four points each.
"Again, it was our defense," said Johnson. "We really played hard defensively.
"We made sure we took our time on the offensive end, and we stayed patient when we had the ball."
Scotland, winners of three straight, travels to Westover on Friday at 6 p.m.
