Fuchs-McLean wedding

Miss Sarah Marie Fuchs and Lt. David Gray McLean were married at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Southern Pines by Monsignor Jeffrey Ingham. Following the ceremony, a sit down dinner reception hosted by the bride’s parents was held at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Fuchs of Laurinburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fuchs of Pittsburgh, Pa., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clement Miller of South Bend, Ind. The bride graduated from Scotland High School of Laurinburg and received her bachelor of arts degree in graphic design and English from the University of Notre Dame. Until recently, she was the manager of the Bella Filati Yarn Shop in Southern Pines.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve McLean. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Leon McLean of Lumberton, Mrs. Lillian Davis of Lumberton, and the late Mr. Percy Davis. The groom graduated from Pinecrest High School and received his bachelor of arts degree in photojournalism from Columbia College in Chicago. He is a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and is currently assigned to the 3rd Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division.

The bride was escorted by her father. She wore an ivory satin gown with a sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves that featured pickups highlighted by champagne-beaded appliques. She wore her mother’s cathedral-length veil accented with lace edging. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of Sahara and Eskimo roses, eucalyptus and autumn joy. She also carried a rosary made by her late grandfather and a handkerchief carried by the groom’s mother at her wedding.

Mrs. Rachel Fuchs of Charlotte, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Leslie Fuchs, sister-in-law of the bride, of South Bend, Ind., Miss Dominika Szreder, of Federal Way, Wash., Miss Lauren Wons, of Madison, Wis., and Miss Katy Hall, of Chicago, Ill., college roommates of the bride, Miss Taylor Floyd of Southern Pines and Miss Nisa Caskey of Missoula, Mont. The bridesmaids wore full length, burgundy dresses featuring a shirred midriff with a sash tie in the back. They carried hand-tied bouquets of Sahara roses and coffee berries. Miss Maya Elizabeth Fuchs, of Charlotte, niece of the bride, was the flower girl.

Mr. Steve McLean, father of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Jon Oriet, cousin of the groom, of Whispering Pines, Mr. Jonathan Flood, of Greensboro, Mr. Matthew Fuchs, brother of the bride of Charlotte, Mr. Christopher Fuchs, brother of the bride, of South Bend, Ind., and Mr. Timothy Healy of Southern Pines.

Wedding music was provided by Ms. Deb Bridges, organist, Mrs. Eliza Mitchell, cousin of the bride, trumpet and vocalist, Mrs. Georgine Fayssoux, Mrs. Virginia Gionfriddo, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Victoria Trimberger, aunt of the bride. Miss Anna Louise Gionfriddo, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Mary Peacock were scripture readers at the mass. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Deacon served as guest book attendants. Miss Lindsey Wilder, of Pinehurst, directed the wedding.

Bridal Events

A bridal shower was hosted by Mrs. Beverly Bradley and Mrs. Victoria Trimberger, aunts of the bride, in South Bend, Ind.

A couple’s dinner party was hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Brad Faulkenberry, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hicks, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Oriet, Mr. and Mrs. Chip Shytle, Dr. and Mrs. William Goodwin and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Weir at the home of the Faulkenberrys in Laurinburg.

A wedding shower was hosted by Mrs. Peggy Floyd, Miss Taylor Floyd, Mrs. Cathy Roofe, and Mrs. Kay Bullard at the Floyd’s home in Pinehurst. A bridal shower was also hosted by Mrs. Holly Floyd, Mrs. Jody Mincey, and Mrs. Liz Dalrymple, all of Pinehurst, at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst.

A rehearsal dinner for the bridal party and out of town guests was hosted by the groom’s parents at Legacy Lakes Clubhouse in Aberdeen.

The couple had a wedding trip to Bald Head Island. They now reside in Ft. Knox, Ky. In June, they will be permanently stationed at Ft. Benning in Columbus, Ga.
