Staff report
Two of the most familiar and enjoyable themes for the holidays are about to begin: eating and reflecting on the year.
To celebrate with our readers throughout Scotland County and surrounding communities, The Laurinburg Exchange will
launch a new online contest, Meals & Memories. This will be a special online contest open to all readers to submit their
favorite recipes and photographs of their most memorable events of the year.
The Recipe Contest will begin on Dec. 1 and the Photo Year-In-Review Contest will begin on Dec. 19.
In order to make the contest possible for the community, Billy Ray Norris of Norris Storage has agreed to be the title
sponsor for the contest.
“Norris Storage is proud to be the title sponsor of the Meals & Memories promotion,” Norris said. “We want to encourage folks to submit their favorite recipes and their favorite photos, and we also ask folks to submit their votes in support of what they consider the best in those categories.”
Laurinburg Exchange General Manager Althea Simpson expressed pleasure to be hosting the event.
“We’re very pleased that Billy Ray Norris has agreed to take part as our title sponsor,” Simpson said. “We think it’s going to be fun to see all the wonderful recipes and photos that our readers will share during the weeks of the contest.
“I’m always looking for new recipes, and this will be a great way to get a whole new collection,” she said. “Everybody knows that family favorite recipes straight from the cook’s kitchen are always better than recipes from cookbooks, and the photograph contest will be a new way to share family events, community celebrations and milestones in the lives of our readers over the past year.”
Several category sponsorships are still available, so if you’re interested, get in touch with the advertising department at
910-276-2311. The deadline for sponsorship is today at 5 p.m. Literally thousands of readers entered the past two online
contests sponsored by The Exchange, and tens of thousands went online to view the entries as they were being added each day.
Details for readers to enter the recipe and photo contest and the official launch dates and times will be forthcoming in the
next week, both in print and online. Watch the pages of The Exchange so you can take part.
