Gripper stays hot, but gets little help in Knights' loss to Coker

Hartsville, S.C. - Four Coker players scored in double figures to lead the Cobras to a 71-59 win over the St. Andrews Knights on Thursday night.

St. Andrews led 35-31 at halftime before being outscored 40-24 in the second half. Coker had was led by Josh Poston and Mason Ambler, who had 15 points apiece.

The Knights shot 55.6 percent in the first half and just 33.3 percent after halftime. Coker shot 53.3 percent for the game.

The Knights had just one scorer in double figures, and it was senior Joseph Gripper, the reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Week. Gripper dropped 23 points and shot 9-of-12 from the field. He hit 2-of-3 shots from 3-point land and continues to excel while coming off the bench as the Knights' sixth man.

Gripper had little help against the Cobras. Center Zack Garst was SAPC's second leading scorer with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting.

St. Andrews (3-8, 1-4) plays at Erskine on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Lady Knights play at 2 p.m.
