Traffic stop nets marijuana

A traffic stop by the Laurinburg Police on Wednesday of a Maxton man netted marijuana, according to a police report.

According to the report, William Oscar Baker, Jr., 25, was charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver within 1,000 feet of a school, in addition to driving without a license, no insurance and fictitious tag.

Baker was stopped by police for the traffic violations and a search of his car recovered marijuana, the report said.

Baker, of Beethoven Drive, was placed in Scotland County jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

According to the Department of Corrections offender search, Baker has already served nearly three and a half years behind bars for a burglary and firearm charges. He was released in September.

Laurinburg man arrested for stolen vehicles, tags

A 40-year old Laurinburg man was arrested for possessing stolen vehicles and license plates, according to a sheriff's report.

Kevin George Hamilton, of Anson Avenue, was arrested Scotland County Sheriff's office on warrants from the Nags Head Police Department, the report said.

According to the report, Hamilton is charged with two counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle an three counts of fictitious tags.

Hamilton was placed in Scotland County jail under a $5,500 secured bond and is awaiting trial in the Dare County court, according to the report.

Hamilton has previously been convicted of two counts of identity theft, driving while intoxicated and seven counts of obtaining things under false pretenses, according to the Department of Corrections offender search.

Laurel Hill man charged with B&E

A 20-year old Laurel Hill man was arrested as an alleged burglar on Thursday, according to a sheriff's report.

According to the report, Bryant Lee Locklear, of Bunch Road, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after a breaking and entering and felony conspiracy.

Locklear was placed in Scotland County jail under a $7,500 bond, the report said.

Woman reported necklaces snatched from neck

A local woman alleged that someone stole $1,500 in jewelry from around her neck, according to a sheriff's report.

According to the report, Latisha McLaurin told deputies that someone came into her home and snatched the jewelry off of her.

The culprit made off with three necklaces, a 10 karat gold Cuban link valued at $900, a 10-karat gold X-and-O necklace valued at $350 and a 10-karat gold Herring Bone necklace, according to the report.
