The Rev. Elizabeth McNair Ayscue, a native of Laurinburg, will present the sermon at the 2011 Baccalaureate Service at St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
The service is the first to honor the Class of 2011 and will take place on May 6 beginning at 4 p.m. in the Physical Education Center on the college campus.
Ayscue has served as the pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Albemarle since August 2002. She had previously served at Clifton Presbyterian Church in Maxwelton, W. Va., and Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Ky. Ayscue is an active member of the St. Andrews Board of Trustees.
The daughter of John F. and Martha McNair III was born in Laurinburg and went on to attend Peace College before graduating cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She received her Master of Arts degree from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education and then her Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary. While at seminary, she received the E.T. George Award for Excellence in Homiletics and Public Speaking.
Ayscue and her husband Austin have two children.
