Home invasion in Maxton leaves one injured

A 66-year-old man was shot during a home invasion in Maxton on Thursday.

According to a sheriff's report, four masked men broke into the Jonathan Street home of Raybourn Foster Quick at about 1:05 a.m., dragged him out of bed and demanded money.

A man armed with a rifle shot Quick in the hip and the men ransacked the home.

The assailants stole about $550 in cash, a Smith & Wesson revolver and caused about $100 in damage to the home, according to the report.

Man accused of communicating threats, not paying child support

According to a sheriff's report, Adam Mishue, 30, of Wagram was arrested on Thursday for failing to appear in court for a hearing on child support in addition to two other counts of failing to appear in court, one count of communicating threats, and on count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Mishue was placed in Scotland County jail under an $8,300 secured bond in addition to having to pay over $18,000 in back child support payments, according to the report.

Wagram pair accused of assault

Two Wagram women have been accused of assaulting a neighbor.

Barbara McQueen, 38, and a 16-year old female, have been charged with simple assault, according to a sheriff's report.

McQueen, of North Turnpike Rd., allegedly assaulted neighbor Michael McRae with the help of the 16-year old, according to the report.

The two were served criminal summons on Wednesday.

The Laurinburg Exchange does not print the names of juveniles involved in a crime.

Man charged with assault, threats

A Laurinburg man who allegedly assaulted a woman was served warrants on Thursday.

According to a sheriff's report, David Stanton, 52, is charged with aggravated assault and communicating threats on Dec. 16.

Stanton, who lives on Pea Bridge Road, was accused by Pearlene Stanton, of Maxton, according to the report.

Break-in at Pineview netted 3 golf carts

Someone broke into Pineview Enterprises at 13103 N.C. 74 West, Maxton on Wednesday.

According to a sheriff's report, the intruder broke a chain-link fence and stole three golf carts and about $400 in cash. The carts were worth about $14,000, according to the report.

Car stolen from driveway

A 33-year old Laurinburg resident reported his car stolen on Tuesday.

According to a police report, Reginald Kent McNair,Jr. had his car stolen sometime between Dec. 26 and Dec. 30.

McNair told officers he was out of town when his 1994 gold Buick LeSabre was taken from his driveway.

The car is valued at $2,000, according to the report.
