Local company alleges $10K in embezzlement

A possible case of embezzlement was reported to the Sheriff's Department on Tuesday, according to an incident report.

Dillon Supply Company, located on Andrew Jackson Highway in Maxton, reported $10,000 missing in what they believe to be embezzlement.

According to the report, the money was noticed to be missing on July 1, 2008.

The sheriff's department is investigating this matter.

Man accused of vandalism, larceny

A Laurinburg man was arrested Wednesday by the sheriff's department as an alleged vandal and larcenist.

James McLean, 37, is charged with injury to private property and larceny, according to an arrest report.

McLean, of Sally McNair Rd., was released from jail on a written promise to appear for his court date.

Alleged burglar taken into custody

A man was taken into custody for a burglary on December 15, according to a sheriff's report.

Michael Ray Chavis, 36, was arrested Wednesday and is charged with burglary by forcible entry, larceny after breaking and entering and felony conspiracy, the report said.

Chavis, of Jackson Street in Laurinburg, was placed in Scotland County jail under a $25,000 bond

Laurinburg teen accused of larceny

A Laurinburg teen was arrested for her alleged involvement in a Dec. 18 robbery.

The 17-year old girl was taken into custody on Wednesday by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department, according to an arrest report.

The Laurinburg Exchange does not print the names of juveniles involved in crimes.

MAXTON — A Maxton teenager suffered minor injuries when he was assaulted with a knife on Monday.

According to a sheriff’s report, Brian Lynn Mishue, 19, of Quailridge Drive, told deputies that he was assaulted by several men on N.C. 130 West. Mishue said one of the men pulled out a hawksbill knife and cut him on the back, the report said.

He was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital.

MAXTON — Several weapons were stolen on Monday from a Lakewood Drive home, according to a sheriff’s report.

The report said James Oxendine, 60, returned home at about 9 p.m. and found his front door unlocked and several guns, knives and a metal lock box missing. The stolen items were valued at about $2,225, according to the report. Oxendine suspects a younger relative.
