Scotland Sorority to use Zumba for awareness


LAURINBURG — Rho Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will hold Zumba event on Friday to bring awareness to heart disease and stroke.

The event begins e at 6 p.m. at 106B South Main Street, Laurinburg. The class is $5 and will be taught by Ms. Michelle Williams. People are encouraged to wear red. For more information call Brenda Teal, 910-384-3061.

Zumba is a dance fitness program created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez during the 1990s. Zumba involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music. The choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo. Squats and lunges are also included.
