LAURINBURG — For the second consecutive year Scotland Community Health Clinic received a Top Performer award of $5000 from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC (BCBSNC) Foundation. SCHC received recognition for its outstanding performance as one of the NC Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NCAFCC) members that placed within the top six performance results for both diabetic and hypertension outcomes in the Annual Outcomes Survey. This grant was based upon the results reported from the Clinic for its 2016 NCAFCC Annual Outcomes Survey.

The Scotland clinic received recognition for its outstanding performance as one of the NC Association of Free and Charitable Clinics members that placed within the top six performance results for both diabetic and hypertension outcomes in the Annual Outcomes Survey. This grant was based upon the results reported from the clinic for its 2016 NCAFCC Annual Outcomes Survey.

Additionally, the NC Association of Free and Charitable Clinics in partnership with the BCBSNC, granted the clinic $2,000 for its participation and completion of the 2016 Annual Outcomes Survey reporting the health care gains of its patients. “SCHC’s outcomes reflect the high quality of care that we provide to our uninsured patients. It’s great to receive this recognition for the second year,” said Andy Kurtzman, the clinic’s executive director.

Scotland Community Health Clinic provides free primary care and medicine to uninsured adult residents of Scotland County who also meet the Clinic’s financial eligibility requirements. The clinic is funded solely by donations and grants.
