LAURINBURG — The St. Andrews University men’s volleyball team returned home this week to sweep past conference foe Bluefield College (Va.) in three sets. The Knights easily rolled past the Rams 25-11, 25-16, and 25-18 to sweep the eason series from their conference rival.

After getting out to a 4-0 lead in the first, Bluefield rallied to tie it at five before St. Andrews went on a massive 20-6 run to put away the Rams. St. Andrews then pulled away midway through the second set to cruise 25-16 before settling in to roll down the stretch outscoring Bluefield 7-1 to win the final set.
Freshman setter Jackson Stark led with 21 assists and eight digs with four kills and an ace. Freshman outside hitter Jacob DeSouza led the Knights with nine kills overall, 15 digs and an ace as he just missed a double-double.
Junior outside hitter Robin Imar, who was named as the NAIA National Attacker of the Week, had six kills to hit .118 with six digs, two solo blocks, and three service aces.
Freshman Luke Armbruster led the Knights in hitting percentage with .667 on seven kills and an error along with three solo blocks. Junior right side Sean Hale added three kills, three digs, an ace and two blocks while freshman Kurt Laurido contributed five kills and seven digs.
Sophomore libero Carlos Rodriguez reached double-digit digs with 10 along with two aces and an assist while sophomore setter Daniel Villarte reached double-digit assists with 13 as well.
St. Andrews improves to 10-12 overall and 4-4 in the conference while Bluefield falls to 0-16 overall and 0-7 in conference.
The Knights are in action to battle Sun Conference teams, Webber International and Warner University in Florida on March 25. Action begins at 11 a.m. vs. Webber.
