COLUMBIA, Ky. — Six institutions were approved for affiliate membership into the Mid-South Conference, conference commissioner Eric Ward announced Friday.

St. Andrews University has joined the league in wrestling and men’s and women’s swimming.

The Mid-South Conference Council of Presidents unanimously approved Brewton-Parker, Martin Methodist, Southeastern, Tennessee Wesleyan and St. Andrews to join the conference for the upcoming 2015-16 season, and Cincinnati Christian will become an affiliate member beginning in 2016-2017.

“The Mid-South Conference is very excited to expand the conference’s footprint with like-minded institutions,” Ward said. “The addition of St. Andrews strengthens our conference in swimming and wrestling while providing the student-athletes and coaches with a platform to compete for conference championships. We look forward to working with their coaches and administrators in these respective sports, and expect their teams to be very competitive.”

St. Andrews wrestling, led by head coach Joe Baranik, joins Brewton-Parker and Southeastern in the expanded ten team conference. Campbellsville, Cumberland, Cumberlands, Life, Lindsey Wilson, St. Catharine and Truett-McConnell are the other conference schools that sponsor wrestling.

Knights men’s and women’s swimming will begin competition in the Mid-South starting in 2016-2017. St. Andrews, coached by Brooks Teal, becomes the eighth school in the conference to sponsor swimming, joining Bethel, Campbellsville, Cumberlands, Life, Lindenwood-Belleville, Lindsey Wilson and St. Catharine.
