Mid-South Conference announces Appalachian Division Football Players of the Week

COLUMBIA, Ky. — The Mid-South Conference’s Appalachian Division announced it’s offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week.

St. Andrews University’s Trevor McNeil was named the Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division football Offensive Player of the Week.

Bluefield College’s (Va.) Devon Jackson was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Union College’s C’Darius Cateo was named the Special Teams Players of the Week.

McNeil, a freshman running back from Charleston, S.C., rushed for 136 yards in the Knights inaugural home opener against Cincinnati Christian University of Saturday. The Knights leading back had 13 carries and three touchdowns to lead St. Andrews to a 48-25 win.

McNeil averaged 9.7 yards per carry — part of a 338-yard overall rushing attack for the Knights.

McNeil is currently ranked fifth in the Mid-South, averaging 83.7 rushing yards per game. Southeastern’s Jarrell Reynolds is ranked first averaging 153 yards per game.

The Knights’ freshman running back has 251 total rushing yards for the season and is second in the conference, behind Reynolds who has 306 total rushing yards.

St. Andrews improved to 1-2 overall with the win over Cincinnati Christian. The Knights have a bye this week but will remain at home on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m. to play Faulkner University (1-2) out of Alabama.
