LAURINBURG — Just three days into April and the old saying “April showers bring May flowers” is ringing true — which makes it hard for all six spring sports teams at Scotland High School to get games and matches in.
Already cancelled this week due to the rainy weather is the softball team’s make-up game against Pinecrest. The teams were originally scheduled to play on Friday, but the game was moved to Monday to try and avoid the rain — that didn’t work. The game was cancelled early Monday morning and a new make-up date has not been set.
The boy’s tennis team moved the start of their match against South View up an hour to try and out play the rain, but were unsuccessful. The match has been suspended and a day to complete it has not been set.
The boy’s golf team was scheduled to play their fourth match of their schedule on Monday at Deercroft Country Club in Wagram. No word on if that match was postponed due to the weather or not.
The rest of the week is jam packed with sports, and hopefully the rain will hold off, because with the shortened spring season getting make-up games in can be quite difficult.
