A trio of Scotland High School varsity men’s tennis players was named to the 2013 Southeastern All-Conference team. The league announced last week that Scotland High School freshman Jacob Blackman, sophomore Robert Beacham and junior Walker Davis earned the honor given out by league coaches. Scotland’s run through the state playoffs is over. The Scots softball team fell to West Johnston 5-0 on Tuesday in the fourth round of the playoffs. The Wildcats move on to the eastern region series this weekend. West Johnston’s Megan Mills limited Scotland’s chances and moved the game along at a brisk pace with her fastball. The bats came alive for the Scots on Friday as they drove in six runs in a 6-3 win over East Wake in the third round of the softball state playoffs. Marlboro Academy won their second consecutive SCISA AA State Championship Tuesday, and the winning team featured several Scotland County residents. The Lady Dragons swept Carolina Academy in the best-of-three series, winning game one 8-0 and game two 5-0.
