Scotland County will be host to a martial arts meet later this month. Kenny Morrison’s Professional School of Tae-Kwon Do will host the fourth annual “Phoenix-N-Tha-Burg” competition on May 18 at St. Andrews University. The winners of the Scotland County senior games were recognized Wednesday evening at an awards ceremony at Scotia Village. The senior games began April 26 and officially ended May 8, although one rain-delayed event was set to be made up on May 9. For almost one week Logan Ward was the fastest who ever ran a mile in Scotland High School track history. That was until John Holloway broke the record six days later. Ward ran the mile in 4:56 at a home meet on April 25, which was the fastest time on record. Coach Richard Bailey said Scotland’s official records date back to 2009.
