School fence buy questioned
Several Scotland County commissioners wondered aloud at this week’s board meeting why the school system decided to spend a $109,000 windfall on perimeter fences for schools rather than offer the money back to the county.
According to county Finance Officer Charles Nichols, the school system wishes to use $109,036 in money it has left over for a capital project on building fences around the margins of several area schools.
