Bipartisan legislation has been introduced in Congress seeking full federal recognition for the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, whose members make up portion of Scotland County’s population. A teenager has been charged in a traffic accident that killed a Maxton motorcyclist. William Hayes Freeman, of 5021 Fairley Road, Maxton, was killed Sunday when his 2013 Honda motorcycle was struck by a 2007 Nissan pick-up truck at 2:26 p.m, authorities said. Hudson to open local office today
Congressman Richard Hudson is hosting a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at his Rockingham Office today. The office will serve residents in Scotland, Richmond and Robeson counties. The office is at 1015 Fayetteville Road in Rockingham. The ribbon cutting will be held promptly at 5 pm followed immediately by a “Meet and Greet” time with the congressman. Light Refreshments will be served.
