A Laurinburg man was killed Saturday when his motorcycle overturned and he was thrown into a nearby field, the state Highway Patrol said.
James Sebert Gibson Jr., 60, of Johns Road in Laurinburg, was traveling west on N.C. 130, about five miles east of Rowland, at about 6:43 p.m. when his 2009 Kawasaki Motorcycle entered a curve to the left and ran off the road to the right, according to 1st Sgt. Ardeen Hunt.
Gibson, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling 55 mph in the 55-mph zone.
Damage to the motorcycle was reported at $2,000.
