DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. plans to open a new dialysis center in McColl, S.C.
Located off US 15-401 on the north side of McColl, the center is undergoing state certification and is expected to be open by May. The center is currently serving a single patient.
“The center is undergoing certification and is expected to be open completely in about two weeks,” said Patricia Ford, clinical nurse manager at the location.
“Everything is going pretty well. When we open we will already have our full load of patients,” Ford said.
The center has 10 dialysis stations and and will begin with two daytime shifts.
“We are planning on adding a third shift for people who work and need to come in after four o’clock,” Ford said. “It is very important for us to have that night shift to give patients options.”
According to Ford, Davita has a health care philosophy which centers around teamwork in the service of patients.
“It’s all about working together and about our patients,” Ford said.
For those interested in signing up, Ford explained that registering is easy.
“You can call and speak with our administrative assistant and they will direct you to our social worker and get you admitted right in.”
The McColl center is expected to also present some employment opportunities for those in the area. Ford said that at least another nurse and two more technicians will need to be hired, particularly in the event of another dialysis shift being added.
Located in a new building at 3595 US 15-401 in McColl, DaVita is part of a company that provides administrative services at 1,954 outpatient dialysis centers throughout the United States.
