Scotland Health Care System gave out its top honor last week, the annual Award of Excellence.
The announcement of this award is the highlight of National Hospital Week.
A standing ovation was offered as System President and CEO Greg Wood announced Jennifer Jones, an infusion therapy nurse, as this year’s Award of Excellence recipient.
“Compassion for her patients, passion for the love of nursing, dedication to improving the areas where she works, and a strong desire to assist her peers with enhancing their knowledge are all a part of Jennifer’s daily work life,” Wood said. “The word “no” is not in her vocabulary – instead, she is constantly thinking of ways to enhance systems and processes that will assist her patients and team members (such as writing grants to purchase teaching tools). Jennifer excellently demonstrates all the characteristics we strive for.”
Jones joined Scotland Health Care System in 2004 and following a two year break, returned home to Scotland.
She became a registered nurse in 2010 and today Jones plays an integral role serving both outpatient and inpatient populations.
The Award of Excellence recognizes and rewards the associate who demonstrates service excellence always and promotes a compassionate, caring atmosphere to customers and fellow staff members. One hundred and fifty-three associates throughout the Health Care System were nominated for the prestigious award.
At the award ceremony, Wood spoke to more than 100 health care system associates in the hospital’s cafeteria. There were four divisional winners that received a check for $100 and a certificate congratulating them. The other divisional winners are:
— Administration/HR Lisa Dial-Hunt, RN, Staff Development
— Finance Shand Strickland, Information systems
— Patient Care Tim McIntyre, Edwin Morgan Center
