Nearly 250 Native American students in grades three through 12 were honored at Scotland County Schools’ Indian Education Awards program Thursday night at Scotland High School.
“It was a great night,” said Dr. Lyle Shaw, who oversees the Indian Education program for Scotland County Schools. “We had more students recognized for academic achievement, SAT Wall of Fame and perfect attendance than we ever have.”
Honored were as follows:
Academic Achievement 59 students
Top Scots 43 students
National Honors Society 5 students
SAT Wall of Fame 1600 4 students
SAT Wall of Fame 1500 4 students
UNC-Chapel Hill Uplift 3 students
College Bound 56 students
Military Bound 8 students
Junior Marshals 7 students
Perfect attendance 57 students
“I’m very proud of each of these students for their hard work,” said Shaw. “I also commend their parents and teachers for all that they have done to make these students successful.”
