A Wagram minister was convicted last week on charges of indecent liberties with a minor.

Darryl Todd, 34, was arrested in August 2010 on three counts of statutory rape involving a 14 year old girl.

At the time, he served as minister at Spring Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Wagram, where authorities said he initially made contact with the girl’s family.

“He knew the victim’s father,” said senior Assistant District Attorney Joanna Shober, who prosecuted Todd’s case. “They had initially met at church as a one-time thing, and they continued to have communication through Facebook and texting.”

Todd was convicted on June 11 on three counts of indecent liberties with a child for offenses committed in April and May of 2010. A class F felony, the charge of indecent liberties with a child is a lesser offense than statutory rape, according to Shober.

“I met with the victim and her parents and this was a deposition that they wanted us to do in this case,” Shober said.

Todd was sentenced to a total of 36 months of probation, one year for each charge, and is to schedule 15 days of active prison time during his probationary period.

He will also be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years.

Todd had served as president of the Union for the Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Educational Association and was previously pastor of Saint John Missionary Baptist Church of the Freeman Community in Riegelwood. He was also the Middle District Baptist Association director of youth affairs and past chairman of youth evangelism.
