School officials say that a "suspicious package" found this morning at the Scotland High School fieldhouse posed no harm to students or staff.
The object was found by maintenance staff around 9:30 a.m. The area was sealed upon its discovery and local law enforcement and the State Bureau of Investigation were notified.
The field house and stadium area were closed to students, but the school day proceeded as usual in the main buildings. Following investigation by authorities, the object was found to be harmless and the school resumed its normal schedule.
"Although the package was made to look like a bomb, it was not," said school spokesperson Meredith Bounds.
Around 2 p.m., the ninth grade baseball team was in the fieldhouse area preparing to depart for an away game.
