Teenagers, pirates and John Adams – oh my!
ENCORE! Theatre is holding open auditions for its Halloween show “Night at the Wax Museum, the Musical” on Aug. 25.
Called a “hilarious trip through history as (a) wax museum comes to life under the spell of Cleopatra,” the play has 31 parts that need to be filled including the roles of John Adams, Henry VIII, pirates, teenagers, the Sundance Kid, Lizzie Borden, Cleopatra and dozens more.
“We need the community’s help in bringing (the musical) to life,” said show producer Allen Johnson.
Based on the book by Craig Sodara, the musical’s action begins when a teacher brings her high school students to a wax museum. When the wax sculptures come to life, the comedy begins.
“I think the play is going to be great and I encourage the public to come and try out for a part,” Johnson said.
With parts requiring as few as five lines as well as opportunities to pitch in behind the scenes, Johnson said that there is a place for the stage-frightened and fearless alike.
Those trying out will be asked to read from provided scripts and may also be asked to sing.
Tyris Jones will serve as the play’s director and Rev. Charles Modrell will serve as its musical director.
Auditions will take place on Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. in the Morris Morgan Theatre located in the LA building on the St. Andrews Campus.
