With prom season right around the corner, Scotland County Relay for Life, may have just the dress for the occasion —at a discount.
Officials with the non-profit group are holding a dress sale this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will include prom dresses as well as wedding gowns. It will be held at the W. R. Dulin Center on the campus of Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Phyliss Williford, one of the Relay organizer for the event, said there will be more than 75 prom dress on sale and a handful of wedding gowns.
The dresses were donated by Relay for Life teams. Harley’s Tuxedo & Gifts and hi-lites Ladies Clothing are donating racks and mannequins for the event.
The dresses are either new or may have been worn once.
“The dresses are beautiful and come in a variety of different sizes,” Williford said. “They look like new.”
Prices will range from $15 to as much as $100.
“We hope people will come out and take a look at what we have,” Williford said. “There will be some very good deal and the proceeds will go toward a very good cause.”
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life gives the community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
Last year, teams of Scotland County residents camped out at Scotland High School taking turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team was asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event.
It was the 15ht year the event was held in Laurinburg. It raised more than $262,000.
