Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at the Grace Chapel Holiness Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Pastor Jimmy Powers, Pastor Russell Kinlaw, Jr., and Pastor Ed Livavaras will officiate the services.
Robert was the son of the late Robert A. and Carrie Goins Locklear, born on July 26, 1935. He was a retired textile worker retiring from JP Stevens, Inc., after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a charter member of the Grace Chapel Holiness Church and served faithfully until his passing. Robert enjoyed gardening and his selling produce. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather that truly loved his time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers Lawrence Locklear and James Locklear and sisters Josephine Leviner, Evelina Coble, and Jessie Lee Williamson.
Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years Peggy Randleman Locklear of their home in Gibson, daughters Pam Wilkins and husband Darrell of Gibson and Karen Ruiz and husband Sammy of Hamlet, brothers Willard Locklear and wife Beatrice of Gibson and the Rev. Henry Locklear and wife Anne of Hamlet, sisters Lizzie Jacobs of Gibson, Lena Mae Clark of Asheboro, Zettie Bell Baxley of Laurinburg, and Iona Faulk of Hickory, grandchildren Amy Wilkins and Carrie Ruiz, many nieces and nephews, his canine gardening buddy Sampson, and a host of family and friends.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made in memory of Mr. Locklear to Grace Chapel Holiness Church, 161 Doby-Mercer Drive, Hamlet, NC 28345.
