To the editor:

I do not know the purpose of the top-secret mystery mission addressed in the page 5A AP article of your Dec. 12 edition. As a taxpayer, I am helping to finance the mystery mission, but if the Air Force reveals the purpose to me via the press, potential and definite enemy nations will know that they are possibly under surveillance. Therefore, I am perfectly content to support this top-secret project, because it apparently if not obviously contributes to national security.

According to your Dec 5, page 5A AP article concerning NASA sending another rover to Mars, the cost of both missions totals $4 billion. Does our nation have a definite or potential enemy on Mars? If not, why is NASA allowed to spend 4 billion of our tax dollars on projects that will in no way benefit we taxpayers, while we still have not recovered from the economic devastation of globalization, and the cost of the no-bid contracts corporate special interests collected for but never finished in Afghanistan and Iraq?
