The driver of this car was hospitalized after an accident Monday afternoon.
An early-afternoon wreck between Laurinburg and Wagram sent one to the hospital.

A champagne-colored 1998 GMC Sierra 1500 struck the driver side door of a white Cadillac El Dorado ETC at the intersection of U.S. 401 and Salley McNair Road, which is about three miles north of Laurinburg, shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday.

The Sierra was a utility truck belonging to FTS, a contractor that works for Time Warner Cable.

The truck came to rest southeast of the intersection facing east while the car stopped northeast of the intersection facing southwest.

The driver side door of the car was badly damaged, as was the panel behind it, and the side mirror was nearly ripped off, dangling from the door by several electrical wires. The window was broken out and glass was strewn over the side of the road. The front passenger tire was also popped and the rear driver side tire appeared to have been struck but still

On the truck, the headlights and turn signals were all broken out while the fender, grill and hood were dented.

Airbags did not deploy in either vehicle.

It was unclear their direction of travel or who was at fault. The trooper with the N.C. Highway Patrol who responded to the accident could not be reached for comment.
