When Scotland coach Colin McDavid sat down at the table this thanksgiving he had alot to be thankful for.
Considering the amount of talent on the boy's soccer team coming back next year, you can see why.
The Scots put three boys, two sophomores and a junior, on this fall's All-Southeastern Conference soccer team.
Midfielder Balyn Krout was nominated to the all-conference team. Along with all-conference, the junior was named to the all-region team.
"He's a dynamite player," said McDavid. "He exhibited good speed early in the season and it gave defenders a hard time, forcing them to double up on him."
Krout led Scotland (7-11-1, 3-5 SEC) with 17 goals on the season. He also chipped in five assists.
"He's just a tremendous player and the most experienced," McDavid said of Krout. "He dedicates himself to the game, especially in the off-season with travel ball and it shows out there with his skill and experience."
Midfielder/Defender Aaron Stevens was also named to the all-conference team this fall.
The sophomore finished the season with four goals and an assist for the Scots. McDavid believed that Stevens specialty was tracking down dead balls.
"He demonstrated that he was our best dead-ball specialist," said McDavid of Stevens. "He scored some beautiful goals off of free kicks and took alot of our corner kicks. Just a great foot on him."
McDavid also commended the sophomore on his work as a left full back.
"He did a tremendous job at the left full back position, I'm very proud of him," Coach said. "I look forward to seeing him the next couple of years. He's got alot going for him."
Defender Joe Prevatte showed what can happen when you just get an opportunity. He got his chance when senior captain Joe Monroe went down early in the season and his hard work was rewarded by making the all-SEC team.
"He was one of our best defenders," said McDavid. "Has a high work rate. He really came on for us when Joseph (Monroe) got hurt, stepped in to take over that position and never looked back."
Prevatte really came on during the Scots winning streak in September.
"He did a fantastic job for us," McDavid said of the sophomore. "When we went on a stretch where we were winning game after game, he was key during that because he kept the defense tight. Did alot of man-to-man marking their best player and was able to shut them down with his speed. Saved us in quite a few games when he would come out of nowhere after the ball got past the goalkeeper to save us."
With the kind of talent coming back next year, McDavid is very proud of these boys accomplishments and looks forward to next fall.
"I'm very proud of these three boys and because of this, I am looking very to next season because all of them will be back," said McDavid.
